$26 billion is being distributed nationally in a settlement involving Johnson & Johnson and three other pharmaceutical companies.
The settlement comes because they distributed opioid painkillers even as addiction and overdose deaths skyrocketed. Sign up for our Newsletters
Attorneys general across the United States are now claiming the money they deserve.
KOAT reached out to New Mexico’s attorney general to see if the state would be claiming money in the settlement, they said they will not.

Green Up Day is coming this Saturday, May 1. Continuing a 51-year tradition, this is the day when volunteers from all over the state pitch in to pick up trash along Vermontâs roadways.
How does Green-Up Day work? Fill your bag with paper, cans, and roadside trash. With COVID in mind, volunteers are asked to wear a mask and remember social distancing. Bright clothes and facing oncoming traffic helps cars avoid you. Insect repellent, gloves and boots protect against dirt and ticks. Children should tell adults if they find medical waste. (Use gloves and pliers or tongs to pick up needles and secure in a thick plastic container, ideally marked Medical Waste.) ....

SVMC: Event Sbout Substance Abuse Recovery

The event is scheduled at 4 – 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4 and will air live on CAT-TV channel 1075 and facebook.com/CATTVBennington. It is free and no registration is needed.

This event is appropriate for people with substance use disorder and their families and anyone interested in decreasing substance use in our communities. Participants will gain hopeful insights on how they, their friends, and neighbors can navigate the transition from substance abuse to a healthy and happy substance-free lifestyle.

Aulicino is a registered nurse within Vermont s Hub and Spoke program for substance abuse recovery. In addition, she is a medication-assisted treatment nurse liaison with Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and a member of the International Nursing Society on Addictions. ....
