The province is still not in a position to sign-off on the Canadian Football League’s Return To Play plan.
Minister of Sport Lisa MacLeod says conversations with the league happen every day.
“The thresholds for a Return To Play for the CFL are quite high. We do expect that they would be able to meet them. We would expect that they would be similar to the NHL and AHL Return To Play model. They continue to work but I don’t have a timeframe.”
MacLeod suggests they should be in a better position to decide in the next couple of weeks but notes a lot must happen before then. ....

The Hub | Bayshore Broadcasting News Centre

Pete’s Auto Body; because we care about our community……
There’s been an ongoing trickle of movement as it pertains to a Return To Play for the Ontario Hockey League.
First, a report from Scott Wheeler of the Athletic suggested an early April, 24 game schedule in 4 hub centres was on the horizon.
Next, a passionate open letter from Attack defender Andrew Perrott calling for a return to action, created a great deal of interest and possibly some heightened activity.
To that end the OHL has a Conference Call with their General Managers today
While the Wheeler report suggested there would be a 24 game schedule implemented, the most recent suggestion is that schedule would be 20 games in length with 5 clubs competing at 4 different locations ....

Feb 12, 2021 8:50 PM
The Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) has made the extremely difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the competitive season which includes regular season games and playoffs.
After multiple discussions with Public Health, representatives of the Provincial Government, Facility Managers and Stakeholders, The MJHL Board of Governors have determined that the resumption and completion of the 2020-21 regular league / playoff season is not feasible due to current conditions.
It has become unrealistic to continue operating in a state of hope with so much uncertainty and no timeline provided. It is unfair to our athletes and staff, our community organizations who have been severely impacted financially and the communities / regions our organizations support and garner support from. ....

And we’re back! A new hockey season is always full of uncertainty - but this year will be unlike any other. So what lies ahead for the Caps over the next 56 games? We offer up some thoughts in our latest Rink Roundtable.
Q1. What do you see as the Caps’ biggest strength and biggest weakness heading into the season?
Peerless: The biggest strength might also be their biggest weakness: Experience, and the flip side, age. In a league notorious for turnover, the core of the team – Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, and John Carlson – all dressed for 77 or more games in 2010-11. As far back as 2015-16, Ovechkin, Backstrom, Carlson, Evgeny Kuznetsov, T.J. Oshie, Dmitry Orlov, and Tom Wilson all dressed for 75 or more games with the exception of Carlson (56 games, the rest missed to injury). There’s a familiarity and a history (and a championship) in that roo ....
