ONE of the main activities after the formation of Ilkley & District Motor Club in 1910 were the Regularity Trials.
These tested the ability of the rider to find a certain check and also to make sure that they arrived on time.
Most of these Trials were long distance events mostly over 100 miles, with often an overnight stop either at the coast, such as Whitby or in the Lake District.
These events not only tested the ability of the riders but also the reliability of the motor cycles and later cars.
