Eight people are displaced following a Monday evening fire in Phillipsburg.
Phillipsburg Fire Chief Rich Hay said no one was injured in the blaze that began at an aging apartment building at 786 S. Main St. and spread to an adjoining apartment building at 784 S. Main St. The initial call came in at 7:15 p.m.
Two families living in apartments at both buildings escaped safely. Crews were able to get the flames under control in about an hour, said Hay, noting by 9:15 p.m. firefighters were still checking for hot spots. ....
