Saskatchewan’s reforms to police oversight will finally include an independent investigating agency, effectively putting an end to the practice of having police investigate serious incidents involving police.
On Tuesday, the provincial government announced it will provide $287,000 to the Public Complaints Commission to develop a Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) in the 2021-22 budget year. The PCC is the independent oversight agency that investigates any public complaints made against municipal police in Saskatchewan.
