APT James to set sail before February
The arrival of the APT James at the Port of Port of Spain, Trinidad on Friday -
The new Tobago fast ferry, APT James, is anticipated to be in service by the end of the month.
Nassir Mohammed, communications manager of the National Infrastructure Development Company Ltd (NIDCO) said in an e-mail response to Newsday on Thursday that the ferry is anticipated to be in service before February 1.
Mohammed also said the lease for the Jean de la Valette (JDLV) will expire on February 1.
The APT James arrived in Trinidad and Tobago waters on January 8 after a 30-day trip from Australia. ....

An increase in wind speeds over the long weekend is expected to result in rough seas, beginning December 31 and lasting until January 3.
The Trinidad and Tobago Inter-Island Transportation Company Ltd (TTIT) advised the travelling public of the adverse sea conditions in a release on Wednesday.
It added, “At this time, the respective vessel captains are monitoring the present situation to determine whether there should be any changes to the existing schedule.”
The Meteorological (Met) Office and the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) posted a short notice on their social media pages which said it is possible for wave heights to be between 2.5 and 3.2 metres (eight-10.5 feet) in open waters. ....
