MIRAMAR, Fla. – An over-the-road truck driver from Miramar was arrested Sunday on accusations that he communicated with a minor on Instagram and traveled to Georgia to have sex with her, authorities said.
Wigberto Berrios, 39, faces charges of sexual exploitation of children, enticing a child for indecent purposes and child molestation.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the victim’s mother contacted them and provided her daughter’s cellphone to investigators.
Deputies said Berrios, also known as “Berto,” sent pictures of child molestation acts to the victim and begged her to meet up with him as he was traveling through Tallapoosa on Easter Sunday. ....

TALLAPOOSA, Ga. A Florida man is in a Carroll County Jail after being charged with traveling to the area on Easter, allegedly to molest a child. Now, authorities are concerned he may have more victims.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff s Office, several local police agencies and the U.S. Marshals Service, on Sunday, arrested 39-year-old Wigberto Berto Berrios on five counts of exploitation, one of criminal attempt child molestation, and one of criminal attempt of enticing a child.
The sheriff s office said that their investigation began over a week earlier when Berrios allegedly began sending inappropriate text messages and pictures to a minor in Carroll County. ....

Over The Road Trucker from Florida Arrested for Enticing a Minor and Soliciting Sex

(Carroll County, GA) On Sunday, April 4, 2021 while most are gathering to celebrate Easter, Investigators with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Tallapoosa Police Department, along with members from the ACE (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement) and the US Marshals office were working to apprehend 39 year old Wigberto Berrios, an over the road trucker from Florida who had began sending inappropriate text messages and pictures to a minor from Carroll County over a week ago.

The mother of the minor was alerted to the inappropriate solicitation with her daughter and met with Carroll County Investigators and provided her daughters phone. The investigation revealed that Berrios also known as “Berto” was sending pictures of child molestation acts to the minor and begging her to meet with him as he traveled through the area to have sex using the Instagram app to communicate. Deputy Courtney Short took lead of the investigation under the direction of Sergeant Stephen Stol ....
