Date Time Curtin joins national centre focussed on zero carbon future for heavy industry Curtin University has joined forces with other leading universities, companies and government to form the Heavy Industry Low-carbon Transition Cooperative Research Centre (HILT CRC), to help Australia’s heavy industry sector transition toward zero net-carbon emissions by 2050. Announced today, the HILT CRC has been awarded $39 million in cash support over 10 years from the Federal Government which will unlock more than $175 million investment from its partners to fund the collaboration. The Centre will enable the heavy industry sector, which produces materials such as steel, aluminium and cement, to successfully transition to compete in the low-carbon global economy for carbon-neutral materials such as ‘green’ steel, alumina, cement and other processed minerals. ....
