KwaZulu-Natal social development MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza on Tuesday opened a case against the parents of an eight-year-old boy from the south coast who allegedly suffered abuse at the hands of a 17-year-old relative.
This followed a public uproar when disturbing pictures of the child’s injuries emerged on social media at the weekend.
Khoza met with members of the Mehlomnyama police management on Tuesday after they allegedly failed to adequately address the situation when it was initially reported to them by a concerned whistleblower on Saturday.  ....

English artist Banksy, who rose to fame in the 90s, has once again captured the attention of the public with his latest artwork. This time the artwork is on an old Reading Prison wall.
The question on everyone s lips is whether he scaled the prison walls to create his latest artwork, which depicts a prisoner escaping over the walls clinging to typewriter ribbon.
The Reading Prison is also known for incarcerating the famous Oscar Wilde in 1895 up until 1897.
While the artwork has not yet been claimed by Banksy himself, an art expert seems to think it is his style, according to a report by the BBC.  ....

Coast club denied slice of America’s Cup pie
A sports club has been left out in the cold, after Auckland Council frustrated its attempts to get a special alcohol licence that would allow it to open its doors to the public to view America’s Cup races on its big screen.
The club, which does not wish to be named, saw the public screenings as an opportunity to gain some benefit from the Cup, while providing the Hibiscus Coast community with a way to come together and celebrate locally in a convivial atmosphere.
It holds a club licence and applied to Council for a special licence for its America’s Cup screenings – something it is legally required to do before it opens its premises, and bar, to the general public. ....
