SBUH Earns Advanced Inpatient Diabetes Certification, Seventh in New York State |

Stony Brook University Hospital has received a two-year Advanced Inpatient Diabetes certification from The Joint Commission after a comprehensive review of its diabetes program. Stony Brook becomes the seventh hospital in New York State and the first hospital in Suffolk County to achieve advanced certification. Only 66 hospitals nationally have achieved this distinction, which resulted on May 19 after a rigorous three-day review in March by Joint Commission surveyors. Certification demonstrates continuous compliance with The Joint Commission's performance standards. As the Joint Commission's "Gold Seal of Approval®" for Advanced Inpatient Diabetes, it reflects a healthcare organization's commitment to providing safe and quality patient care. Buena Vista mayor to pick pot license


Trustees will have their next regular meeting on May 10 rather than Buena Vista’s usual second Tuesday of the month, when they are scheduled to discuss a potential new fire authority and a Chaffee County Economic Development Corporation grant proposal.
Also on the agenda: Buena Vista Mayor Duff Lacy will randomly select one of 20 applicants who completed phase 1 of the town’s retail marijuana license process. 
The winner of the random drawing will move on to the second phase of the process, allowing them to open the second of two marijuana establishments permitted to operate in Buena Vista by an ordinance passed last year. ....

Colorado House panel advances $75M broadband expansion proposal, largest stimulus bill to date


A House panel on Tuesday advanced a $75 million proposal to build out the state’s broadband infrastructure, the largest state stimulus bill to begin working through the legislative process.
House Bill 21-1289 from Reps. Chris Kennedy, D-Lakewood, and Mark Baisley, R-Roxborough Park, divvies up the appropriation by sending:
$35 million through the Broadband Deployment Board at the state Department of Regulatory Affairs for so-called “last mile” projects to link telecommunication networks to users’ homes;
$5 million to the Interconnectivity Grant Program Fund in the Department of Local Affairs to fund so-called “middle mile” projects linking the last mile to a telecommunication network operator’s core network; ....
