May 21, 2021 at 7:00 am Effective June 1, 2021, the County of Hawaiʻi Department of Water Supply (DWS) will reopen its offices to walk-in services. Customers and members of the public will be able to start new water service, obtain help with an existing water account, pay a water bill, or receive other in-person assistance. No appointments will be necessary. DWS’ offices are open to the public Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, safety protocols including mask wearing, social distancing and hand disinfection will be required when visiting the offices. Anyone feeling ill or under a quarantine/isolation order should stay home and reschedule their visit to DWS in the interest of public safety. ....

The current power cost charge of $1. 71 per thousand gallons is under consideration for a possible increase to reflect increased power costs from all power sources. The proposed power cost charge will be at a rate of 1. 85. The approved rate will be effective the first day of the month after the establishment of the rate by the Water Board. Members of the public can schedule an appointment to start a new water service, obtain help with an existing water account, or receive other in-person assistance during this time. In-person payment collections and unscheduled in-person services remain suspended through May 2021. Fix-a-leak week tries to help customers reduce their water waste and save money by offering daily conservation tips on their website. Daily tips will include how to look for household water leaks, easily repair a leaking toilet and the proper way to install a low-flow shower head. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has sponsored the annual Fix-a-Leak Week events since 2009 as a way of highlighting areas where water waste is commonplace inside many homes, outdoor areas and workplaces. ....
