WACO, Texas (May 13, 2021) – Baylor University today announced a leadership gift to the Baylor Basketball Pavilion from Paula Hurd, marking progress on the Pavilion and surpassing a significant milestone for the Give Light Campaign. This gift pushes total gifts to Baylor through the Give Light Campaign over the impressive $1 billion mark, the most the University has ever raised during one campaign effort.
Paula’s gift will be recognized through the naming of the Mark and Paula Hurd Floor at the Baylor Basketball Pavilion, honoring Paula, who is a current member of Baylor’s Board of Regents, and her late husband, Baylor alumnus and former Baylor Regent Mark Hurd, B.B.A. ’79. ....

WACO, TX — Baylor students of the AAPI community and other backgrounds have come together to stand up and make a change. This comes after an Asian American student was verbally and physically assaulted based on his race..
Christine Phan, coalition intern under the Department of Multicultural Affairs, organized Tuesday s demonstration and says it s time the AAPI community has a voice.
The stereotype is that Asians are not politically active, and so just to have everyone come out to today, just to see everyone post the fliers on social media, it means a lot, Phan said. ....

WACO, Texas (Feb. 11, 2021) – Baylor University announced today that fundraising for the Trailblazer Scholars Program has surpassed $2 million since the program’s creation in July 2020, pairing with the University’s commitment of $5 million to establish the program.

Monday marked a historic event in the cosmos the first time in 800 years that Saturn and Jupiter aligned in the night sky. And for this unique moment in the universe, Utahns may have a better view than most due to its dark skies. Any Utahn with a clear view of the horizon should be able to take advantage of the state’s skies to watch the event, according to Rodger Fry, director of the Salt Lake Astronomical Society’s observatory at Stansbury Park. All you have to do is look to the southwest after sunset between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. roughly 25 degrees above the horizon. ....
