LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The #1 Southcrest Christian girls captured their 4th straight TAPPS 2A Basketball State Championship beating Shiner St. Paul 58-33 Saturday morning in College Station.
The Lady Warriors led 17-5 after one and stretched it to an 18 point lead after three quarters.
Southcrest Christian finishes the season winning 24 games in a row going 24-1.
In his 4th year, Coach Clay Stout has done a terrific job at Southcrest Christian as the Lady Warriors are State Champs for the fourth year in a row! ....

Among the recommendations outlined in Southold’s police reform report are the need to diversify the police force, establish an internal affairs bureau to better investigate complaints and begin equipping officers with body-worn cameras.
“There are some items that are definitely attainable, some we are currently in the process of implementing, but just as many that I don’t feel are necessary for our department,” Police Chief Martin Flatley said in response to the report submitted by the Southold Justice Review & Reform Task Force last week. ....

It’s been nearly 40 years since American civil rights leader Benjamin Chavis coined the term “environmental racism” to address the fact that so many poor communities populated mostly with people of color had to deal with extreme pollution from neighboring industrial plants, toxic landfills and other dangerous circumstances. Locally, Barrio Logan residents have long contended with this.
Now the San Diego City Council is doing something about a related issue: the fact that low-income neighborhoods with concentrations of people of color are most affected by climate change. On Tuesday, the council’s nine members unanimously approved creation of a “climate equity fund” with an initial $4.8 mill ....
