A Mount Pleasant man has been arrested on at least 10 drug-related charges after initially being pulled over for a traffic violation earlier this week.
A traffic stop was conducted for 36-year-old Zackary Daniel Kirkbride for a non-functioning brake light near the intersection of 265th Street and Iowa Avenue at 5:13 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. After an investigation, deputies discovered Kirkbride was in possession of over five grams of methamphetamine, over eight grams of psilocybin mushrooms, liquid T.H.C., drug paraphernalia, and a firearm.
As result of the traffic stop, and ongoing narcotics intelligence, a search warrant was obtained and executed at Kirkbride’s residence. There investigators found quantity amounts of methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, liquid T.H.C., heroin, and drug paraphernalia. Another firearm was also located and seized.
One floor of the building is dedicated to one main purpose housing its workout equipment. We are trying to build a climate within the department where officers take care of themselves both physically and mentally, Maj. of Administration Adam Schaefer told The Hawk Eye on Friday.
In addition, Schaefer said being in law enforcement is a physically demanding job. All the workout equipment either has been purchased by officers or through donations to the department, and there are a few officers who have worked as physical trainers.
The equipment is divided into two areas a weight room and a cardio room. Schaefer said this provides more privacy for officers.

Burlington, Ia- Authorities have announced the arrest of a Burlington man in connection with an ongoing narcotics investigation.
On Thursday, March 11th, 2021 the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force along with the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement (D, the Burlington Police Department, and the Des Moines County Tactical Response Unit (TRU) executed a search warrant on a residence in the 100-block of South 6th Street.
46-year-old Donald Demetric Gordon of Burlington (above) was arrested and charged with Possession with intent to deliver Methamphetamine, two counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Drug Tax Stamp Violation, and Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin.

Burlington, Ia- Authorities have announced the arrest of a Burlington man on drug possession charges.
According to a news release, on Friday, February 5th the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force, Burlington Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, and the Burlington Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) executed a search warrant on a residence in the 900 block. of North 8th Street.
The search warrant was being executed in reference to a subject who was trafficking large quantities of narcotics in the greater Burlington area.
47-year-old Milton Cleon Davis of Burlington (above) was arrested on charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin, Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, Two counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Two counts of Drug Tax Stamp Violation, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
