PORTLAND While still insisting publicly that his high-stakes Ritz-Carlton development in downtown Portland is fully funded, real estate developer Walt Bowen is again fishing for dollars from local investors.
BPM Development, Bowen’s company, this week sent out invitations to various stockbrokers, money managers and other investment professionals to an online update on the Ritz project. “Join us virtually to learn about this unique OZ (opportunity zone) real estate investment opportunity,” reads an invitation.
At just about a million square feet, the Ritz will cost nearly $600 million to build, making it one of the largest and most expensive real estate developments in city history. The Portland Art Museum has reopened and will present the exhibit, Ansel Adams in Our Time, to members starting Wednesday, April 28, and to the general public May 5.
The exhibit includes the famed photographer s work as well as others to put Adams photos in context.
The show contains 80 images by artists working both before and after Adams.
It was curated by Karen Haas of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She drew from her museum s Lane Collection of more than 6,000 American modernist photographs, works on paper and paintings, including 450 Adams photos collected by Saundra and William Lane. ....

PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) Portland police declared a riot in downtown Portland after a group of anti-police demonstrators started smashing windows and breaking into businesses Friday night.
Multiple people have been arrested, KGW reported.
The Portland Police Bureau said there were two separate marches downtown after 9 p.m., one of which became destructive while the other stayed peaceful. 
The one that was declared a riot started in Director Park on Southwest Ninth Avenue and Yamhill Street. At 9:45 p.m., police tweeted that participants had started to engage in criminal activity. A riot was declared minutes later.  ....
