Shelter Scotland shops are opening up to receive donations
A few selected Shelter Scotland charity shops are set to open their doors next week to accept donations.
The first wave of stores opening up for public donation, from April 12, in Edinburgh are Forrest Road, Morningside and Stockbridge.
In Glasgow shops are opening up for donations in Stockwell Street, the Botanics and in Paisley the charity shop will open on the High Street.
All other Scottish shops will be accepting donations from April 21 when the teams return to work.
Director of Shelter Scotland, Alison Watson, said: “Like so many other charities, the pandemic has been tough on our fundraising efforts, so we are delighted to announce today that some of our much-loved shops will be opening up next week in order to receive donations from the public. ....

Media release: Digital service launched for homeless people in Edinburgh and the wider community
A DIGITAL service to add to the support available for people in Edinburgh who are homeless has been developed by researchers and community partners, including leading Scottish homelessness charity, Simon Community Scotland.
The website and an accompanying app – called Street Support Edinburgh – provides advice, support and resources for homeless and vulnerable people, plus the wider Edinburgh community who want to help and emergency services personnel.
Street Support Edinburgh has been developed as part of a project by the University of Edinburgh’s Centre for Homeless Inclusion and Health (CHIH) and the Manchester-based Street Support Network. ....

Street Support Edinburgh: New app to help homeless

An online service has been developed by researchers at the University of Edinburgh and community partners to improve support for homeless people.
The app and website, called Street Support Edinburgh, offers information about providers of meals, drop-in services, food banks and accommodation with the aim of providing support and resources to vulnerable people.
Fiona Cuthill, director of the centre for Homelessness and Inclusion Health at the University of Edinburgh, said: “Street support Edinburgh is a great opportunity for the University of Edinburgh to build on our existing community networks and to work together to help to reduce homelessness in our city.” ....
