Cheddar community donates laptops to aid pupils' learning

Cheddar Vale Lions Club has received more than 120 IT devices to give to pupils to support their learning in lockdown.
The club has already gifted 40 devices to local families and schools, 30 had to be recycled and 25 are being tested by a technician, with more donations due to be distributed in the coming weeks.
The Lions set-up its Youth IT Project on social media in January, which aims to help local schools and families by providing devices to help support students’ homeschooling. ....

Millfield School in Street receives certificate of appreciation from Lions Club

A SCHOOL in Somerset has been recognised for its work within the community during the coronavirus pandemic.
Millfield School, Street, not only worked hard to deliver online lessons, but also got involved with the community to help those in need.
And so Glastonbury and Street Lions Club presented the school with a certificate of appreciation for the pupils and staff, to thank them for the help they have given throughout the year,
The school provided more than 1,000 meals to Somerset school children who were eligible for free school meals and their families access to food during the closures.
Millfield parents and staff raised more than £16,00 to fund 40,620 meals for 160 families every week during term time and the summer. ....
