Southern Colorado Clinic brings urgent care to Pueblo West

The urgent care opened Dec. 17, joining forces with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Charles Hanson.
“We are two separate entities, but we are sharing space and sharing use of the X-ray equipment at that location. And if we need to make an ortho referral, we know who to send our patients to,” said Pebbles Spinuzzi of the Southern Colorado Clinic.
Spinuzzi said the Southern Colorado Clinic in Pueblo “started to see patients trending from Pueblo West, so we decided to open a new clinic there to better serve that area.”
The need in Pueblo West is especially great due to the coronavirus pandemic, so the clinic offers both flu and COVID-19 testing. ....

Pueblo doctors retire but continue work for Universal Chastity Education

When Ken and Kim Dernovsek met in medical school, they had no idea they would not only be partners in life but in medical practice as well.
It s a story of two people who met while in medical school, married, started a family, and founded a nonprofit known as Universal Chastity Education. The two doctors and world travelers found their home in Pueblo in 1984.
“We’ve lived an interesting life,” Ken said.
The two met while attending the University of Wisconsin, where Kim was on track to become a dermatologist and Ken was making his way into endocrinology.
They ended up at separate medical schools, as Ken stayed at the University of Wisconsin while Kim made her way to University of Minnesota. ....
