South Burlington Rotary celebrates 35 years — in person

Many new South Burlington Rotary members had never met their fellow Rotarians before the clubâs 35th annual picnic last month. They had grown to know each other through a computer screen every week, but when youâre one in a mess of bobbing heads, it can be hard to casually chat, ask about the grandkids, the office, the garden.
While Rotary made technology work through the COVID-19 pandemic, continuing weekly meetings and organizing a series of virtual and cautiously in-person community events, they felt whole again when they gathered in person to celebrate 35 years and a new president.
Andrew Swift, who took over the presidency from Sandra Walsh, met many new members in person when the crew gathered for Green Up Day in May, handing out trash bags, recording the number of volunteers and helping dispose of trash. ....

Vermont Business Magazine The employee-owners of PC Construction have once again prioritized hunger relief in their corporate giving, announcing today that the company will give a total of $60,000 to hunger-fighting organizations in 2021.
The company also gave substantially to hunger relief in 2020, as the number of Vermont families struggling with food insecurity increased from 10% to 25% in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. PC committed more than $90,000 to hunger-related causes last year.
For 2021, PC opted to move up its donations earlier in the year, so that the funding could be used to help support families with school-age children during the summer months, when free school lunch programs are either not available or are harder to access. ....

Vermont Business Magazine Healthy Living Market and Café has announced that a combined $49,167 has been donated to food banks in each of its three communities as a result of its round-up campaign, Together We Can Help.
With each Healthy Living location having chosen its own beneficiary, four organizations received a donation for the 2020 fundraising campaign. In Vermont, $24,701 will be provided to Feeding Chittenden and $18,904 to the South Burlington Food Shelf with all of the Williston location’s donations going to Feeding Chittenden, and the South Burlington Food Shelf and Feeding Chittenden receiving a 50/50 split of the South Burlington location’s round-up proceeds. ....
