Week in Review - The Paper of Montgomery County

As we settle in to the new year and either break or keep up with our resolutions take some time to look back at all of the news of the week. It was another busy week in Montgomery County.

THE BOARD of Commissioners have hired Mike Davis to the new position of Mapping Director. Mike was serving as the Geographic Information Coordinator for the County. Mike has worked for the County for 24 years. He started as Chief Deputy in the Surveyor’s Office where he was responsible for digitizing the legal drains in the County. He then worked in the Building Department as a building inspector and helped created the Mapping Division which was responsible for creating digital maps for properties in the County. ....

Southmont clarifies graduation rate - The Paper of Montgomery County

Southmont High School is looking carefully at the graduation rate for 2019-20, after an Indiana Department of Education audit. The audit revealed that the distribution of an incorrect form between December 2018 and December 2019 caused the reported statistic to decline artificially from 94.16 percent to 88.36 percent.
“We were hopeful the state would allow us to retroactively correct the error. Because that was not possible, we are taking internal precautions moving forward.” Superintendent Dr. Shawn Greiner said. “Nothing has changed with the student success rate at Southmont, and we are positive the accurate graduation rate will be reflected in future years.” ....
