MANSFIELD - Ginger Perreault promised her father that before he died, she would find where their ancestor was buried.
Her father had been searching for a good portion of his life for John Mann, who fought in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, and she picked up where her father left off.
Perreault, who works for the Monroe County Sheriff s Office in Florida, called cemeteries in and around the Mansfield area during her lunch breaks, hoping that one would have Mann, who died in Richland County in 1824.
She also signed up for Ancestry.com hoping to find distant relatives. Her search for the patriot lasted nearly a decade.
Stranger who had been drinking, uses hose to put out garage fire

60 block of Stewart Avenue - A 34-year-old woman awoke early Sunday morning to find her garage on fire and a stranger using her garden hose to put it out. She told police she took the hose from him. The fire was extinguished before the fire department arrived. She also told police the man, whom she had never seen before, likely was intoxicated because he was unsteady on his feet and he smelled of alcohol. The man told her he d been walking by and sprang into action when he saw the garage on fire. He left the area before police and firefighters arrived.

It s a number of factors leading up to a holiday where everybody wants flowers, said Josh Maurer, general manager for Alta Florist & Greenhouse on South Home Road in Mansfield.
Maurer was, of course, referring to Mother s Day, the second biggest day for flowers after Valentine s Day.
Most florists and owners who talked to the News Journal say they have weathered the literal storm.
