Sky-dive for charity: All those young farmers who took part
CUMBRIA S young farmers were flying high last weekend in a bid to raise cash for two worthwhile charities.
Southern District chairman, William Longmire and five others made plans to take to the skies for a charity sky-dive.
Three attempts later and with a further seven intrepid young farmers added to the hardy bunch, the sky-dive finally took place on Sunday, May 2 at the Black Knights Sky-Diving Centre at Cockerham, Lancashire.
NFYFC Vice Chairman Ed Dungait, Cumbria YFC President Judith Emmott, Cumbria YFC County Chairman Neil Curr and Southern District Chair Jess Rogerson along with Southern District members William Longmire, Chloe Dawson, Connie Hodgson, Beth Pickthall, Lori-jo Sharp, Jenny Wood, Jack Sowerby and Sam Wilson risked life and limb to jump out of planes at 15,000 feet to raise funds for the Southern District of Cumbria YFC and the Calvert Trust. ....

Community-spirited Cumbrian young farmers give helping hand at Covid Vaccination Centres


Helping hand:Community spirited young farmers
COMMUNITY-minded young farmers have pulled together this month to give a hel;ping hand at local Covid Vaccination Clinics.
All ten clubs from the YFC movement in the southern district have volunteered on a variety of days and in all weather for hours on end.
The young farmers have helped out at Captain French Surgery in Kendal and Nutwood Medical Practice in Grange-Over-Sands. Grayrigg YFC have also assisted at Flu Clinics and helped prepare the surgery for the Covid Vaccine Clinic.
During the month of January, the Southern District have been volunteering at two local COVID Vaccination Clinics and will continue to do so at Captain French Surgery in Kendal and the Nutwood Medical Practice in Grange-over-Sands. Grayrigg YFC have also assisted at Flu Clinics and helped prepare the surgery for the COVID Vaccine Clinic. ....
