County Schools Say Masks Will Be Optional For Students, Staff Starting June 1; Group Says Mask Requirement Should End Now

Hamilton County School officials said Monday that beginning June 1, mask wearing will be optional for students and staff.
Officials said, We wanted to provide a reminder and an update regarding masks.
On March 15, we retired the Phase Tracker and committed to maintaining Phase 3 mitigation strategies through the end of this school year.
According to our Reentry and Continuous Learning Plan, those mitigation strategies include masks being optional for grades K-2 except when students and staff are outside the classroom in the building. ....

Cannon County Schools has announced that Monday, January 4
th, 2021 will be a regular or “On-Campus” Instruction Day for ALL Cannon County Schools’ students. ALL Students will report to their respective schools for “live” instruction from their teachers.
Director of Cannon County Schools, Mr. William F. Curtis, stated, “Monday, January 4th, 2021 will mark a return to On-Campus Instruction. Even though Cannon County active cases are averaging around 140, reported cases or contacts in Cannon County Schools are low. As of today, Wednesday, December 30

Hamilton County Schools officials have announced the re-entry plan for the spring semester.
Officials said, The first semester of the 2020-2021 school year has been a learning experience for our team as we’ve navigated the obstacles presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 has been an ever-changing situation, and our HCS Reentry Plan was always intended to be a living document that could be updated, if needed, based on the latest information.
After analyzing our data, reviewing the latest research, and reflecting on our experiences, the district distributed a survey to families and staff seeking input on potential changes. More than16,000 people completed the survey, including over 5,500 employees. ....
