LIBERIA: ILO Conducts National Regional Consultation for Local Officials and Tripartite Partners – Global News Network


 
A National Regional Consultation for County Superintendents, District Commissioners, Tripartite Partners, Labour Congress, the Liberia Chambers of Commerce and key relevant sections of the Ministry of Labour, aimed at building awareness for the ratification of ILO Conventions has  commenced in the country.
The Consultation which is being held under the theme:
“Strengthening Institutional Capacities in Liberia for Ratification, Domestication and Reporting on International Labour Standards”, is implemented under the RBSA Project.
The event opened in Ganta City, Nimba County on July 12, 2021 and is expected to be hosted in four cities – Ganta, Gbarnga, Buchannan and Tubmanburg – over a period of ten days. ....

The International Labour Organization (ILO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, the Liberia Labour Congress (LLC) and the Liberia Chamber of Commerce (LCC)  have concluded a two-day Capacity Building Workshop for Tripartite and other key stakeholders for the Promotion of the ratification and domestication of ILO Conventions Number: 100, 138 and the 1986 ILO amendment to its Constitution.
Speaking during the opening of the workshop, ILO Country Manager, Mr. Salif Massalay said that the workshop is designed and financed by the ILO and is held under the theme: “Strengthening institutional capacities in Liberia for ratification, domestication and reporting on International Labour Standards”. ....

Labour Minister Warns Punitive Measures Against Child Abusers…


Inks MOU with five local NGOs
The Chairman of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Taskforce, Labour Minister, Cllr. Charles H. Gibson says the task force is working on regulations that will ensure punitive measures for people who are engaged in human trafficking and child labor.
Cllr. Gibson said the Government of Liberia remains committed to ensuring that children are not abused in labour and that people are not trafficked as well as other nationals are not trafficked through our country.
Minister Gibson made these assertions at the official signing ceremony of a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the National Anti-Human Taskforce through the Ministry of Labour and five local NGOs in Liberia. ....
