AUBURN â To be a master at your craft it takes dedication, time and perseverance.
That perseverance, dedication and a lot of hard work goes into every 4-H project exhibited during the DeKalb County Free Fall Fair and the Summer Judging Open House.
Local 4-H members were awarded for all of their hard work so far this year during Thursday nightâs Summer Judging Open House and awards night at the DeKalb County Fairgrounds.
Along with the summer project awards, this yearâs Farm Bureau Tenure awards, Tops in 4-H and 4-H Master Achiever awards were handed out during the event.
BUTLER â With a 3-0 vote, Butlerâs Economic Development Commission Friday recommended that Therma-Tru be granted 10-year tax abatements for a planned $43.6 million expansion of its facility at 601 R.E. Jones Road.
The recommendation now goes to Butlerâs City Council, which will consider the request at its meeting Monday.
The three-member EDC board â Jay Jacobs, Dawn Mason and president Rick Walters â all voted in favor of the abatements.
Therma-Tru plans to build a 23,000-square-foot addition to its facility at the south end of Butler to house new manufacturing equipment, including six new presses. The company also plans to hire 53 people.
You can almost smell the popcorn, taste the ice cream, the greasy but good fair food and hear the crack and screech of fireworks.

The event, which was created last year, will return May 14-16.
Taste of the Fair will feature a walk-through fair food alley of more than 25 food vendors. Face masks and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
The event is hosted by the DeKalb County Fair Association and RM Auctions. Hours will be 3-7 p.m. on May 14, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 15 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 16.
The event debuted last year after the DeKalb County Fair Association made a difficult decision to cancel the DeKalb County Free Fall Fair due to COVID-19. Organizers came up with the idea to allow fair fans and supporters to get a flavor of the event at A Taste of the Fair.
