GRAND FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Grand Forks Red River jumped out to a 27-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game and never looked back on the way to 64-39 win over Valley City in the quarterfinals of the Eastern Dakota Conference girls basketball tournament Tuesday night in Grand Forks.
The Hi-Liners did not score until Tesa Olson hit a short jumper to the right of the lane with 7:57 to go in the first half. From that point on, the Hi-Liners out scored the second ranked Roughriders 39-37.
Alex Page had nine of her game high 22 points i the first half when Red River built a 36-12 lead. Page added seven rebounds, three assists and three blocks for the Roughriders. Jade Azure had 12 points for Red River and Kaylee Lancaster had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Hannah Litzinger had six rebounds and four assists which tied Ella Fosse for the team high.
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City used a 16-0 run early in the first half to open up an 18 point lead and never looked back on the way to a 60-40 win over Wahpeton in the play-in game of the Eastern Dakota Conference girls basketball tournament at the Hi-Liner Activity Center Saturday afternoon.
The run started when Drew Potratz hit a three-pointer with 10:08 to go in the first half to give the Hi-Liners an 11-6 lead. It was the one of four three pointers for the freshman in the first half. It ended the same way, a Potratz three with 6:02 to go. The Huskies were held without a basket for 5:40.
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fargo Shanley pulled away from Valley City with a 34-8 game ending run to pick up a 67-40 win over the Hi-Liners in girls basketball Tuesday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
The first half was a back and forth half that saw no ties but 10 lead changes. Those lead changes were started by Tesa Olson giving the Hi-Liners a 7-6 lead with a three-pointer with 12:59 to go in the first half. The Hi-Liners biggest lead came at 20-16 on Olson’s bucket inside with 7:19 to go in the half.
The last lead change came when Shanley took the lead for good on Hannah Hoedl’s three-pointer with 6:07 to go in the half to give the Deacons a 21-20 lead. That was part of a 16-4 run by the Deacons to give them a 32-24 lead. Dylann Diegel cut the lead to 32-27 with a three-pointer with 19 seconds to go in the half.
FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Peyton Pederson scored all four of Valley City’s points in overtime lifting the Hi-Liners to a 53-52 win over Fargo South in high school girls basketball Friday night in Fargo.
The Hi-Liners opened up a 14 point lead in the first half thanks to an 12-2 run. They took the lead on Hailey’s Thoreson’s offensive rebound bucket to make it 5-3. After Brynn Nelson cut the lead to 14-10, the key first half run started again on a bucket by Hailey Thoreson.
South would start the second half on a 13-2 run to cut the lead to 28-25. The Hi-Liners would get that lead back to eight on a bucket by Peyton Pedeson and Tesa Olson’s three pointer.
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Nine players played and nine players scored for Valley City as the Hi-Liners picked up a 58-50 win over Grand Forks Central Tuesday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.
Valley City used a 12-3 run in the first half to take a ten point lead and held that lead for their third win in four games.
Jadyn Dieterle hit one of two free throws with 7:16 remaining to give the Hi-Liners the lead for good at 17-16. Tesa Olson’s three pointer a minute later extended the lead to four. Samantha Hatcher’s put back bucket with 3:55 to go in the half ended the run to make it 29-19. Hatcher had 11 points in the first half. The Hi-Liners led 35-27 at the break.
