Fly-tipping: Couple call for council to be more proactive

Some of the fly-tipping incidents that have plagued Monk Sherborne recently.
A couple have expressed their disappointment at the council s action on fly-tipping in rural parts of Basingstoke and Deane.
The couple, who wish not to be named, have noticed several incidents of waste being dumped around Monk Sherborne in recent weeks.
It has happened roughly once a week since Easter and they say they have photographic evidence of the tips and the vehicles responsible, and that the council has not taken action.
Building waste, fences, cut up conifer trees and household goods are among the items dumped.
But they have declined to go to court to give evidence as they are fearful of retribution from the perpetrators. ....

Flytippers dump rubbish less than a mile from tip

LESS than a mile from a council recycling centre, fly tippers have left an unsightly mess in a secluded spot.
A week after several fence panels were dumped, the same location has been again targeted by fly tippers who this time left an unsightly pile of hard-core, soil and lawn turf.
The secluded spot just off Northallerton Road, Leeming Bar, is at the back of a small industrial estate and also the end of the military airbase runway. It is a popular area for plane spotters, dog walkers and those taking exercise. It is adjacent to a water treatment plant and approximately one mile from Leeming Bar recycling centre. ....

Fly-tipping

With fewer places to go, this lockdown period has been a fantastic opportunity to clear out old clothes and bits and bobs that are collecting dust on the shelves and in the back of cupboards. But what is the most eco-friendly way of disposing of these items?
Modern day society has developed to encourage recycling and reusing in our daily life. For example, the brown bin is for garden waste, the blue bin for recycling and the green bin for non-recycling.
Although, the more care-free among us have developed a sense of self entitlement and leave their bags carelessly on the road, without regard for anyone else. This is simply done to offload the responsibility of their waste, in the hope that the owners of neighbouring shops will have to deal with the garbage. ....
