A man with a “track record” of animal mistreatment, who kept 240 horses in “appalling conditions”, has been sent to prison and banned from keeping animals for life.
Tom Price, who has previously been prosecuted for welfare offences, and banned for five years, was found guilty on 32 charges, at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court last week.

Therapy donkeys join Oak Tree animal centre at Carlisle

The charity has taken two therapy donkeys into its care, Charlie and Pringle.
A spokesperson for the charity said: “Charlie and Pringle were transported to us earlier this year by the Donkey Sanctuary, as part of an exciting new partnership.
“The boys previously worked as ‘assisted therapy’ donkeys, as part of an ongoing programme set up by the Donkey Sanctuary.
“They are now going to live out their retirement here at Oak Tree.”
As well as enjoying their retirement, the two donkeys still have an important role to play. As part of the new partnership, the Donkey Sanctuary will be sending regional officers to the Oak Tree site and, with the assistance of Charlie and Pringle, will facilitate training for potential future donkey adopters. ....
