The child and family weight management services grant (No 31/5627) is a new ringfenced grant provided to selected local authorities to:
test the expansion of behavioural (tier 2) weight management services for children and families
pilot extended brief interventions to improve access to local services for children identified as overweight or living with obesity through the National Child Measurement Programme
This grant is worth £4.3 million and is available for 12 months, starting on 1 July 2021. ....

Around one in six children in Hertfordshire are finishing primary school obese, new figures reveal – although the proportion has fallen from a decade ago.
A new report from Public Health England looking back over the last 10 years has concluded there is a strong link between obesity and the poorest areas in the country.
NHS Digital data shows 16 per cent of Year 6 pupils in Hertfordshire were classed as obese in 2019-20, slightly down from 17 per cent in 2009-10.
It was a similar picture for the proportion of reception-age children obese has gone down slightly to 8 per cent in 2019-20, from 9 per cent a decade before. ....
