ISLAMABAD: The federal government and political parties must hold thorough consultations to reach a consensus decision on reforming the Senate election process instead of opting for hasty legislation without weighing its pros and cons, a Free and Fair Election Network (Fafen) statement said on Friday.
“Fafen considers it unwise to rush through a constitutional amendment for allowing an open ballot with only a month remaining for fresh elections,” the statement said.
It came at a time when the government is all set to introduce a bill providing for open voting in the Senate elections, and the opposition is finding faults with the idea.
Kuwaiti Cabinet Resigns After a Month, Fueling Political Turmoil

(Bloomberg) Kuwait’s cabinet ministers resigned after just a month in office, following a dispute with opposition lawmakers over issues including the re-election of parliament’s speaker.
The resignations were forced after a majority of lawmakers backed a request to question Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, a move that could have led to his dismissal or parliament’s dissolution. The cabinet, formed after parliamentary elections last month, was the second Sheikh Sabah has headed in less than a year.
State-run Kuwait News Agency didn’t say whether Sheikh Sabah accepted the ministers’ resignations.

Lagos, Jan. 7, 2021 As a way to reflate the nation’s economy, an Economic Expert, Mr Moses Igbrude, has urged the Federal Government to prioritise fixing electricity and health care in the 2021 budget .
Igbrude, Chief Executive Officer of Ogu Investment, told newsmen in Lagos on Thursday that focusing more on the electricity sector would boost productivity and grow the economy out of recession.
“ The government should improve the transmission section of the electricity gamut because it is about the weakest link in our power value chain.
“ The Siemens power deal should be sustained in order to scale up our power generation and accelerate the industrialisation of our economy,” he said.
