The Director-General of the Budget Office of the Federation, Ben Akabueze, yesterday, hinted that the Federal Government would “at some point” approach the Supreme Court for a judicial interpretation of appropriation as it relates to budgeting.
Akabueze disclosed this at the third edition of the National Leadership Dialogue Series held virtually. The event brought together government officials and members of the civil society organisation to share perspectives on ‘Rethinking economy: From process to funding, budgeting for whom?’
The DG said the executive arm of government was erroneously bashed over what people perceived as poor budgeting whereas the National Assembly played an active role in the process. ....

The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, (House of Representatives), Hon. Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub on Thursday stated the mutual relationship between the legislature and  the executive has so far yielded positive result and has led to the improvement of the nations economy.
He also said that his principal is very much aware of the current situation in the country and is working very hard to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians.
This was as the former member of the House of Representatives, also hailed the National Assembly for the passage of the controversial Petroleum Industry Bill, otherwise known as PIB, as well as the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.  ....

President Muhammadu Buhari Monday in Abuja signed a supplementary budget of N982.7bn for 2021 to address urgent security and COVID-19 needs of the nation.
The President signed the Supplementary Appropriation Act, 2021 in his office at the State House in the presence of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari and Director-General, Budget Office of the Federation, Ben Akabueze and Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (House), Hon. Umar  el-Yakub.
According to a statement by Femi Adesina, of the amount, N123.3 million is for recurrent (non-debt) expenditure while the sum of the N859.3bn is for contribution to the Development Fund for the capital expenditure for the year ending on the 31 ....
