MSDFS staff sharpens their Project Management skills in preparation for Mitigation Plan Roll Out
Port-of-Spain - As part of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services’ preparation to implement various projects under the National Social Mitigation Plan (NSMP), Ernst and Young’s lead consultant for the implementation of Phase I of the Plan, provided Project Management training to key members of staff at the Ministry. The session took place on Monday April 12, 2021, at the Old Fire Station Building, Hart and Abercromby Street, Port of Spain and was chaired by Cassandra Ramkerrysingh, lead consultant at Ernst and Young.  Additionally, key representatives from various Ministries, who are also providing technical support in the implementation process were invited to the session.  Among these Ministries were the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Marine Resources, the Ministry of Planning and Development; as well as the Ministry of Sports and Community Development. ....

MSDFS meets with SATT Board to continue discussions on food security for the vulnerable
Port-of-Spain - Minister of Social Development and Family Services Donna Cox, met with representatives of the Supermarkets Association of Trinidad and Tobago (SATT) on Wednesday February 24, 2021 to continue discussions on the Association’s role in building a robust framework for food security for the most vulnerable in our country. Minister Cox was accompanied by one of the Ministry’s Permanent Secretaries, Sheila Seecharan and Deputy Permanent Secretary Vijay Gangapersad. In welcoming the Minister and her team, President of the Supermarkets Association Rajiv Diptee, told his Board members that he was privileged to have ongoing dialogues with the Ministry and invited his membership to be fully engaged in the discussions. ....

Port-of-Spain - As part of her commitment to provide outreach services at the community level to the Members of Parliament across Trinidad and Tobago, Minister of Social Development and Family Services, Senator the Honourable Donna Cox is pleased to announce that the Public Information, Education and Sensitization Series has officially commenced today, Friday February 5, 2021.

Speakers Highlight Role of Digital Technology in Confronting COVID-19 Pandemic’s Ill Effects, as Social Development Commission Continues Session
Government ministers, senior officials and representatives of Member States underscored the myriad ways that their countries have embraced digital technology to confront the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the Commission for Social Development resumed its general discussion today in a virtual format.
Speakers built upon the theme of the Commission s fifty-ninth session - a socially just transition towards sustainable development: the role of digital technologies on social development and well-being of all - to call for, among other things, multilateral action to help narrow the digital divide. Several delegates also pressed for a fair and equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines worldwide. ....
