James Edward 'Jim' Hash, 78, gifted architect of outdoor landscaping creations

James Edward ‘Jim’ Hash
SUPPLY James Edward “Jim” Hash, 78, was called home Friday, Feb. 5, 2021. Jim was born May 31, 1942, in Radford, Virginia, the son of the late Volney and Marguerite Evelyne Davis Hash. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Darlene Divine.
Jim was proud of his West Virginia heritage and attended Concord College in Athens, West Virginia, for three years, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Pi Fraternity. He later completed his degree in Business Administration at Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville.
Jim served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve as Military Police. From 1969 until his retirement in 1993, he was a postal inspector with the U.S. Postal Service. He then worked as an auditor/investigator with the N.C. Real Estate Commission. Jim’s Christian faith was first and foremost in his life. He was a perfect husband and dedicated father and grandfather. Anyone who knew Jim, knew that he enjoyed jokes and bringing laugh ....

Boat Club Commended For Flag Display

The Boat Club in White Stone received a Certificate of Commendation from the Richard Henry Lee Chapter of the Virginia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution for proper display of the American Flag. According to the Rappahannock Record the certificate is authorized by the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and is given to both individuals and organizations. The certificate was presented at a small ceremony due to COVID-19. ....

Oura Lee Swart

Oura Lee Swart was born on 14 June 1936, in the family home on the Northwest Kansas wheat and cattle farm as the 13th of 14 children born to his parents, George Martin Swart and Zula May Gilkerson Swart. He died on 17 January 2021 in Fort Payne, Alabama.
Services will be held on Tuesday, 19 January 2021 at the First Baptist Church, Fort Payne, Alabama, with the Reverend Doctor Pat McFadden, the Pastor Doctor Marshall Henderson, and the Reverend Doctor Bart Hildreth conducting. At the conclusion of these services, Leeâs remains were transferred to Oakley, Kansas, where services were conducted by the Baalmann Funeral Home prior to burial in his family plot in the Oakley City Cemetery. The Pall Bearers were nieces and nephews. ....
