Election Petition: Mahama finally files witness statements; Asiedu Nketia, Kpessa-Whyte to testify LISTEN 2 The petitioner in the ongoing Election 2020 Petition hearing, John Dramani Mahama, has filed his witness statements. It was filed on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, by his lawyers. The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia and Michael Kpessa-Whyte, a former Executive Director of the National Service Secretariat, are his witnesses. Mr. Mahama failed to comply with an earlier order issued last Wednesday to file the processes by January 21, 2021, to enable hearing of the substantive matter. A lawyer for Mr. Mahama, Tony Lithur explained to the Supreme Court that it was their understanding that per their application for stay of proceedings, they were not to file the processes expected. ....
The statement which was filed yesterday has Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Michael Kpessa-Whyte, a former Executive Director of the National Service Secretariat as witnesses. Mahama is in court after he and his party –the National Democratic Congress– rejected the results of the 2020 presidential polls. Mr. Mahama, the NDC’s presidential candidate in the 2020 polls, is of the view that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo failed to obtain the requisite number of votes to be declared the winner. The Supreme Court initially gave all the parties in the case to file their witness statements on January 20. ....
Supreme Court to continue hearing Mahama’s election petition today LISTEN JAN 28, 2021 The Supreme Court is expected to sit later this morning to begin hearing the substance of the opposition National Democratic Congress’ flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama’s election petition challenging the 2020 election results. The court was initially expected to move onto the substantive case on January 26 but Mr. Mahama had not filed his witness statements though they were due on January 21. Following a reprimand from the empanelled justices, he proceeded to submit his witness statements and written submissions yesterday with the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia and Michael Kpessa-Whyte, an NDC stalwart and former Executive Director of the National Service Secretariat, as his witnesses. ....

Group wants Jaman South MCE sacked A group of NPP executives in the Jaman South constituency are calling on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to as a matter of urgency fire the Municipal Chief Executive of the Jaman South Municipal Assembly, Alhaji Abu, for his actions and inactions against the party in the just-ended elections leading to the loss of the NPP seat in the area.
