Disabled persons ask to be included on list of Covid relief beneficiaries

The call comes as registration of beneficiaries by local authorities in various cities and municipalities continues with the first list expected to be presented to the ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development today.
Addressing journalists yesterday, the Union’s Chairperson Bumali Mpindi asked the government to have an inclusive strategy to enable Persons with Disabilities to access the covid-relief cash to support them through the 42-day lockdown.
Individuals from the groups of the vulnerable identified by the government will receive Shs100,000 each and upto 1 million people in over 500,000 households are targeted.

Summary
Born in 1966, Ms Nalule is a member of the Appointments Committee. Before joining Parliament, she was a commissioner of the Constitutional Review Commission between 2005 and 2006.

President Museveni has appointed Ms Safia Jjuko Nalule as the new chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC).
Ms Nalule, who is the MP representing people with disabilities in central region, replaces Ms Sylvia Muwebwa Ntambi whose five-year term of office expired in January.
The President has reappointed Mr Joel Ojok Cox as the vice chairperson of the commission for the second term.
Other appointees are Mr Denis Tumusime, Mr Ibrahim Zaidi Edema and Sr Mary Wasagali, all as members of the commission. ....

Travis Perkins has announced the appointment of Jasmine Whitbread, currently Chief Executive of London First. She will be appointed a Director and Chair of the Company on 31 March 2021.
Whitbread will replace Stuart Chambers, who took up the role of chairman in November 2017, and whose resignation was announced in October.
Whitbread began her career as marketing manager at Rio Tinto Computer Services. She is the former Chief Executive of Save the Children UK and has held leaderhip positions with National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda, Oxfam, Cortex and Thomson Financial.
