Rachel Riley has said she will hold the government personally responsible for the next death from domestic abuse if it fails to introduce a register for serial offenders.
The
Countdown presenter said deeply entrenched misogyny and myths about domestic abuse pervade the criminal justice system as she argued ministers failed to follow through on promises to tackle violence against women after Sarah Everard’s killing.
Her comments come after
The Independent revealed a government U-turn on plans to place serial domestic abuse and stalking perpetrators on the existing violent and sexual offenders register and monitor them in the same way serious sex offenders. ....

THERE needs to be a serious change in attitudes to stalking, the sister of a woman who was murdered after the breakdown of a violent relationship has warned.
Katie Summers was stabbed to death by Brian Taylor at her home on Masefield Drive in Farnworth on October 9, 2008 while their two youngest children were still in the house.
She was aged 24 and had not long split up from 29-year-old Taylor after suffering years of abuse.
Katie s younger sister Sarah said Taylor then started stalking her in efforts to control her life before he killed her.
Taylor was given a life sentence in February 2009 after pleading guilty to her murder. ....
