CEDAR RAPIDS Noreen Bush, superintendent of the Cedar Rapids Community School District, was recognized with a national award Friday.
The National Female Superintendent Award from the American Association of School Administrators honors women superintendents for talent, creativity and vision in public schools.
The honor came with a $1,000 award, which Bush is donating to the Cedar Rapids Community Schools Foundation.
She served as interim superintendent before accepting a three-year contract for superintendent in February 2020. She previously worked as the district’s associate and deputy superintendent.
Since becoming superintendent, Bush has guided the district through the COVID-19 pandemic and the Aug. 10 derecho, which damaged every building in the district. ....
