Today, the latest round of funding from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) was announced. This time, more than £165 million in loans were awarded to some of the big-hitting institutions (sometimes referred to as the “crown jewels”) which have been deeply affected by the pandemic in 2020. Among those who have been successful in their applications are the Royal Albert Hall who receive no Arts Council funding and, in September, made an urgent call for public funds in September and have lost £18 million in income over six months due to closure. They were awarded a loan of £20.7 million. ....
