IDAHO FALLS – If you have old, expired medication in your medicine cabinet, organizations throughout eastern Idaho want to help you get rid of them.
The Drug Enforcement Administration is partnering with the Idaho Office of Drug Policy, Center for HOPE, Eastern Idaho Public Health, the Bonneville Youth Development Coalition, Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho Falls Police Department and St. Anthony Police Department for the 11th annual Drug Take-Back Day.
The event will allow community members to safely and securely dispose of any unused or expired prescriptions and help prevent drug misuse in Idaho. Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., you can drop off unwanted medication at the College of Eastern Idaho in Idaho Falls or Broulim’s at 301 Aspen Square Street in St. Anthony. ....

The City of Commerce will be participating once again in a National Prescription Drug Take Back on Saturday.
The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Commerce Police Department and is aimed at keeping communities safer by providing a safe and effective means to dispose of expired, unused, or unwanted prescription medications which can be just as dangerous to the community as illicit street drugs. Prescription drugs thrown into the trash can end up contaminating the soil, underground water tables, ponds, and lakes. Prescription medications flushed down the toilet or washed down the drain can lead to contamination of community drinking water supplies. ....

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WMC) - Tennessee is giving its citizens the opportunity to get rid of any harmful or potentially addictive prescription medication from their homes. April 24 marks the 20th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day!
The state says this year’s event is important due to the pandemic canceling the 2020 event and the amount of prescription drugs that were collected during the October take back day was approximately one-third of the amount collected in the year prior. ....

Saying drug use is rising during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chicago branch of the federal Drug Enforcement Agency is urging people to dispose of unneeded prescription drugs on Saturday s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
Tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drug can be dropped off at collection sites around the suburbs for disposal.
 
Liquids, syringes and other sharp devices, and illegal drugs will not be accepted. The DEA will accept vaping devices and cartridges if lithium batteries are removed.
Drop offs can be made between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at police departments including Aurora, Barrington, Batavia, Buffalo Grove, Carpentersville, Cary, Des Plaines, Elgin, Elk Grove Village, Elmhurst, Glenview, Lake In The Hills, Lake Zurich, Lombard, Mount Prospect, Palatine and Prospect Heights. ....
