Inefficient power plants run in May: Nepra

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Tuesday observed that in-efficient power plants were run as compared to efficient power plants during May.
Nepra Chairman Tauseef H Farooqi said this while concluding a public hearing into monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for May. The chairman also expressed dismay over National Transmission & Despatch Company’s (NTDC) in-efficiency in the transmission system.
Member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Masood Anwar Khan, Member Sindh Rafique Ahmed Sheikh and Member Balochistan Rehmatullah were also present at the hearing. The Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA-G) on behalf of X-WAPDA DISCOs in a petition sought a reduction of 12 paisas per unit for May under monthly fuel adjustment mechanism. ....

ISLAMABAD: While clearing a 29 paisa per unit reduction in monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for ex-Wapda distribution companies (Discos), the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Tuesday said it was not taken into confidence over the closure of a terminal of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
Presiding over a public hearing on a tariff petition of Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) on behalf of Discos, Nepra chairman Tauseef H. Farooqi said the regulator was not taken into confidence regarding shutting down of LNG terminal and the use of alternative expensive fuel for power generation during the dry docking of Engro Floating Storage Re-Gasified Unit (FSRU). ....

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Thursday approved extension of flat electricity tariff to industrial consumers across the country without the application of expensive peak-charges till June 30, 2022.
The approval came following a decision of the Cabinet Committee of the Cabinet and ratified by the Federal Cabinet on the ground that industrial support package had contributed significantly to growth in industrial output and resultantly the economic growth rate.
“The authority has no objection in approving the instant proposal regarding extension of peak tariff for industrial consumer till June 30, 2022, both for the consumers of ex-Discos and K-Electric,” said the regulator in its determination saying the extension did not have any impact on Nepra determined tariff, since the federal government will bridge the gap through provision of addi ....
