New Delhi [India], April 29 (ANI): After the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Act, 2021, came into force in Delhi, BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi said the act should be seen as a means of fixing responsibility on the Lieutenant Governor rather change in the power centre.
We should not see it (Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Act, 2021) as a power centre but as a responsibility centre. So far, Delhi is lying like an orphan. The elected Chief Minister promised free electricity, water and clear oxygen and now the oxygen has finished. 45 hospitals had a private contract with an oxygen supplier and he nullified them. The supply of 28 hospitals of them have been completely stopped. Who does that? Private hospitals had their own supply chains. He took it from them and said ....

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal effectively became the “government” in the national Capital as the Centre on Tuesday notified the amended Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Act, 2021. The Union Home ministry issued the order through a gazette notification, making the Act effective from April 27.
President Ram Nath Kovind had given his assent to the controversial Bill on March 28 after it was cleared in both Houses of Parliament amid strong protests from the Opposition, which said the proposed reforms were against the federal structure of India’s democracy.
In the Rajya Sabha, the Bill was passed on March 25 after the members voted through division slips, with 83 voting in favour and 45 against the motion. MPs opposing the Bill, including Congress’ Mallikarjun Kharge, walked out of the house right after voting. Similar protests erupted in the Lok Sabh ....

The Centre has now notified April 27 as the implementation date for the recently enacted law National Capital Territory of Delhi (amendment) Act 2021 that enhanced the powers of the Lieutenant Governor in the administration of Delhi while limiting the elected government’s powers in some respects.
Besides redefining “Government” in the laws passed by the Legislative Assembly of Delhi to mean the “Lieutenant Governor”, the new law stipulated that the opinion of the LG has to be sought for any executive action. ....
