After months of conversation, the Breckenridge Social Equity Advisory Commission finally implemented a vision statement at its meeting Monday, July 19.
The commission decided to stick with the working vision statement it came up with at its last meeting: Striving for racial equality, removing barriers to social equity, helping everyone thrive. Commissioners agreed they didn’t want to take any more time to come up with an elongated version of the same statement and will use this as its guiding light.
Now that the commission has agreed on its vision, it hopes to start working to implement change but how?

After a year of cancellations, pivots, and virtual events in 2020, Colorado’s summer food and beverage festival scene is hoping to have a somewhat normal 2021. While many of the Centennial State’s most popular dining and drinking events are back, they may look a little different than you remember, with social distancing, smaller capacities, outdoor venues, and other COVID-19 precautionary measures. Even so, festival organizers and local communities are ready to welcome patrons back with open arms (and, frankly, they could probably use your support right now, too). So, get out your calendar and start planning some getaways around these road-trip worthy affairs.
The Breckenridge Wine Classic is returning this summer, and tickets are now on sale. From Sept. 16-19, guests can experience more than 100 food artisans, wineries, breweries and distilleries with seminars, tastings and luncheons.
Two, two-hour tasting sessions will be held outside of Beaver Run Resort at 1:30 and 5 p.m. Sept. 17 and 18. Attendees can purchase an extra 30 minutes to extend their experience with winemakers and sommeliers.
Tickets for the tastings start at $99 and can be purchased at BreckenridgeWineClassic.com
. A percentage of sales will benefit the National Repertory Orchestra. A full schedule of events, including pairings and seminars, will be released in May.
