Noosa Council confident 'no harm' to environment from burn

Noosa Council is âconfidentâ any harm to the environment has been contained after an investigation found workers had burned and buried treated timber at a Pomona depot last year.
A Department of Environment and Science investigation was launched after officers attended the Yurol Forest Drive site in October.
Councilâs acting infrastructure services director Bryan OâConnor said the council welcomed the findings from the department.
Â Mr OâConnor said the council had taken a âproactive approachâ and remediated the site while the investigation continued.Â
The Pomona depot on the outskirts of the Yurol State Forest is at the centre of the investigation. ....

February 23, 2021 In the first study examining the impact of paclitaxel-coated device (PCD) use on mortality in patients treated within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Gutierrez et al found no increased risk of long-term all-cause mortality associated with PCD use. The study was recently published in the
KEY FINDINGS
The rates of 2- and 3-year all-cause mortality were similar between the PCD and non-PCD groups, even when stratified by claudication or critical limb ischemia presentations.
No statistically significant risk in all-cause mortality was seen between the use of PCD and non-PCD devices after adjustment for treatment assignment. ....
