PESHAWAR: The joint team of the Pakistan Army, police and district administration during the crackdown arrested 218 shopkeepers, 12 other citizens during the violators of the COVID-19 SOPs.
The administration sealed 41 shops for not observing the coronavirus SOPs. During the crackdown 218 shopkeepers and 127 customers were also arrested for not wearing facemasks.
The shopkeepers who were arrested included 32 butchers, 12 milk shops owners, and 48 grocery store owners. The administration has asked the general public to avoid visiting crowded places and wear facemasks when they had to leave their residences.
Meanwhile, the district administration and police during a joint action sealed 11 marble factories on the Warsak Road on Wednesday. The government had directed the district administration to take action against illegal marble factories in their respective districts. The teams of police ....

There are three new Covid cases to report today in managed isolation facilities.
Two of the three new cases came from Pakistan before the restriction on travel from there took effect yesterday. The origin of the third case was yet to be determined, the Ministry of Health said in today s update.
There are currently 23 active Covid cases in this country.
Meanwhile officials are continuing their investigation into a traveller from Perth who flew to New Zealand despite the lockdown in Western Australia. ....

The annual poppy appeal brings in thousands of dollars every year to support veterans and their immediate dependants. This year, in addition to the local collection boxes and street appeal, the RSA has launched a national Givealittle campaign raising money online until the end of May.
The poppy appeal began in 1922, the funds it generates helps the RSA with a major part of the service it provides to ex service personnel and their immediate families. ....

High rates of vaccination among residents and staff at continuing care facilities means families will soon be able to more easily visit their loved ones.

Starting May 10, updated public health measures will come into effect for continuing care facilities in Alberta. These protocols will increase the number of designated family/support persons for each resident, expand the number of people who can attend outdoor social visits and allow limited indoor social gatherings.
Active cases in long-term care have declined from the peak of 831 on Dec. 27 to 44 as of April 24. Hospitalizations have decreased by 93 per cent and fatalities due to COVID-19 have declined by 94 per cent. ....
