The Terrace and District Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an All Candidates Forum for the School Trustee By-Election for Electoral Area 2 in Terrace.
The forum is set to take place on Tuesday, February 23, at 7 p.m.. The virtual forum will be showcased live via the Chamber’s Facebook page.
The public can ask questions and submit them to admin@terracechamber.com or can be dropped off at the Chamber’s office at 3224 Kalum Street. All questions must be received by 3 p.m. on the day of the forum. ....

Explorer’s Tree to be removed, due to safety concern
Blue Mountains City Council supports Transport for NSW’s decision to temporarily relocate Explorers Tree, away from the Great Western Highway north of Katoomba, due to safety concerns.
Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole announced yesterday (18 February 2021) that the stump of the large Mountain Ash, reputed to have been inscribed with the names of three of Australia’s earliest European explorers, would be temporarily removed due its “crash risk”.
Heritage specialists will help preserve the tree, plaque and stone features used to support the tree while the community is engaged about the best way to reinterpret the tree in the future. ....

Australia’s first major survey of contemporary Indigenous textiles and fashion
Bendigo Art Gallery’s spectacular exhibition of contemporary Indigenous fashion will open at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra on 19 February 2021 as part of a national tour.
Featuring the work of Indigenous artists and designers from the inner city to remote desert art centres, Piinpi: Contemporary Indigenous Fashion celebrates Australia’s leading First Nations creatives.
The exhibition comes as part of a long-standing collaboration between the Alastair Swayn Foundation and the National Museum, through the Museum’s Swayn Fellowship in Australian Design.
The exhibition was curated by Bendigo Art Gallery’s First Nations Curator, Kaantju woman Shonae Hobson, and brings together around 60 works by creators and brands including Grace Lillian Lee, Lyn-Al Young, Lisa Waup x Verner, Hopevale Arts and Culture Centre, MAARA Collective, the Yarrenyty Arlte ....
