Staff Reports Mar 12, 2021 ROME, Ga. â An award-winning feature co-written by a student from Doerun helped the Berry College student newspaper place third in the state for general excellence in its division at the 2020 Georgia College Press Association Better Newspaper Contest. Â The Campus Carrier recently won 13 awards for journalism excellence, according to a press release from Berry College. I am really excited that the Carrier is recognized as one of the best college newspapers in the state, said Taylor Corley, a junior from Denver, who serves as editor in chief of the newspaper. We do our best to serve the Berry community with accurate, meaningful and compelling coverage each week. ....
Arrests ⢠Marcus Edward Blakely, 40, 1708 First Ave., Apt. 206, was charged Feb. 3 with misdemeanor willful obstruction of law enforcement, aggravated stalking and simple battery. ⢠Courtney Maran Contrell, 33, 2028 Second St. S.E., Doerun, was charged Feb. 23 was charged with probation violation. ⢠James Darrell Bryant, 44, Thomasville, was charged Feb. 23 with possession of meth with intent to distribute and possession of a drug related object. ⢠Davean Bernard Enoch, 18, 289 Beaty Road, was charged Feb. 10 with possession of a drug related object, tail lights required and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Georgia State Patrol Arrests ⢠Lester Joel Ramirez, 40, 302 Tallokas Estates, was charged Feb. 23 with D.U.I.-Alcohol and failure to drive in a single lane. ....

Arrests ⢠Colin Anthony Terrell Jr., 29, 327 Bay Branch Road, was charged Jan. 26 with possession of methamphetamine, arson, fleeing and attempting to elude an officer, speeding, affixing a license plate to conceal identity, no insurance, driving with a suspended registration, reckless driving, failure to drive in a single lane, failure to obey a stop sign, driving while license suspended and two counts of theft by receiving stolen property. The theft charges related to an incident from Oct. 10, and the arson to an incident Jan. 1. All the other charges related to an incident Jan. 23. ⢠Ernest Antonio Bell Jr., 43, of Moultrie, was charged Jan. 26 with probation violation, possession of a firearm or knife during commission of a crime, possession of arms by a convicted felon and possession of cocaine. ....
