MADISON - The state Department of Revenue is reminding hundreds of Wisconsin municipalities to file by Friday to receive American Rescue Plan funds that local governments can use for COVID-19 efforts and infrastructure.
As of Tuesday afternoon, 970 municipalities have already filed and 860 local governments still need to apply by the end of the day Friday. All communities in Wisconsin have money allocated for them, but they must file in order to receive it. That is the only way we can send them their share of funds. I cannot stress enough how important it is to file immediately to ensure that every Wisconsin citizen receives the benefit from their community utilizing these federal funds, Revenue Secretary Peter Barca said in a news release.
