Randolph Commander Anthony Marag approved as police chief as Pace retires

A Randolph police officer who has been part of the force for a quarter-century was named as police chief, taking the place of current Police Chief William Pace, who is retiring in April.
Anthony Marag, a commander in the Randolph Police Department, will begin serving as police chief Saturday, April. 3, the day after Pace retires.
Town Manager Brian Howard selected Marag over fellow officers Commander John Hamelburg, and Lt. Melissa Greener, and the town council ratified the choice, 7-0-1, March 8, with Katrina Huff-Larmond abstaining.
It has been my highest honor to serve the citizens of Randolph, and I pledge to continue to promote openness, transparency and progressive policing as the leader of this great agency, Marag said. I want to thank the Council, the Town Manager and Chief Pace for their faith and confidence. It was a difficult interview process, and I pledge to our community that I will work hard every day to continue to earn this leader ....

Snowmobile Crash with Injury in Gorham
Gorham: On the late morning of Friday, January 29, 2021, a Massachusetts man sustained significant injuries after crashing his rented snowmobile on the Town Access Trail a short distance from Main Street in Gorham.
It was determined that
Konstantin Ioannidis, 30, of Watertown, MA had been operating a snowmobile as part of a guided tour group.  At approximately 11:54 AM, Ioannidis lost control of his machine and subsequently went off of the trail and stuck a tree.  Ioannidis was thrown from the machine upon impact and sustained serious injuries a result of the crash.  Immediately following the crash, a 911 call was placed from the scene to request medical assistance. ....

Randolph residents to receive additional funds for assistance in state budget

Three members of Randolph s Beacon Hill delegation has secured an additional $40,000 in the fiscal year 2021 state budget for United Way s Resilient Randolph Fund for financial assistance and expanded food distribution for low-income residents.
 The budget was signed into law by Governor Baker Dec. 11.
State Reps. Bill Driscoll Jr. and Bruce Ayers, and state Sen. Walter Timilty helped secure the funds.
The Resilient Randolph Fund was established in June in partnership with the Town of Randolph to rapidly disburse funds on behalf of Randolph residents who urgently need assistance with rent/mortgage payments, food, and other basic needs. United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, the Boston Foundation and Envision Bank have donated more than  $170,000 to the Resilient Randolph Fund, but while more than 250 households have received assistance, there are still nearly 100 outstanding requests for help. ....
