NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. It was a wild weekend full of severe weather and thankfully, there have been a couple days of warmth to dry out.
But in one community in Western New York, city inspectors will make a visit to one of the hardest hit areas.
This was probably a 100-200 year type storm, we’ve probably only recorded in the past 20-30 years, four events of this nature, said Mike Kessler the director of water resources for the Town of Tonawanda. ....

With unemployment a concern across the counrty, Erie County announced its Stay In Your Home campaign Feb. 11. Not long after, the City of North Tonawanda did the same.
Kate Lockwood, WNY Law Center Director of the Vacant and Abandoned Properties Program, said there is good reason for concern.
“In 2020, because of all the moratoriums and things, there is a significant drop in actual foreclosure filings, which adds to the concern that when foreclosure filings happen again, we ll sort of see a glut of new cases,” Lockwood explained. ....

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â Erie and Niagara counties could receive nearly $800 million as part of the American Rescue Plan.
In a release sent to 7 Eyewitness News, Congressman Brian Higgins office said President Joe Biden s proposed $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package includes more that $792 million earmarked for communities in both Erie and Niagara Counties.
âOver the last year, our communities have borne the brunt of costs and duties associated with responding to the pandemic and this work continues today,â said Congressman Higgins. âIt is the responsibility of the federal government to provide states and regions with disaster relief during times of national emergency ....
