Kansas City Kansas Community College’s nationally ranked softball team enjoyed a walk-off win so much in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday, the Blue Devils did it again.
Piper’s Alexis Rymer’s single in the bottom of the seventh gave the Blue Devils a 5-4 opening win over Neosho County Saturday; Alaina Howe drove in the tying and Savannah Maynard the winner as KCKCC rallied in the eighth inning for an 8-7 nightcap win.
The sweep came on the heels of 12-2 and 17-0 wins at Cloud County Thursday and propelled the 13th ranked Blue Devils into striking range of first and second place in the Jayhawk Conference DII Division A. Labette (15-3) leads followed closely by Johnson County (15-5) and KCKCC (16-6).

Kansas City Kansas Community College celebrated its newly earned 19th ranking in the NJCAA Division II softball poll with a sweep of North Dakota State College of Science Monday.
Breanna Droge scattered four hits in an 11-4 opening win; Bradi Basler gave up just a pair of hits in a 9-0 5-inning nightcap.
The wins extended the Blue Devils’ winning streak to eight in a row (12-2 overall) heading into their Jayhawk Conference opener at Labette Saturday before returning home to play host to Morningside junior varsity Sunday at 1 and 3 p.m.
“Both our pitchers pitched great,” said KCKCC coach Lana Ross, who was particularly pleased by the control of the two starters – just one walk allowed in the two contests. “North Dakota took some good swings so give credit to tour pitchers.”

Kansas City Kansas Community College needed just 10 innings Saturday to sweep a a pair of shutouts from Central Nebraska 17-0 and 12-0.
The wins improved the Blue Devils’ record to 8-2 heading into the Crowder Bash in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Friday where they play Southeastern Iowa at 4 p.m. and Mineral Area at 6 p.m.
The lopsided wins enabled KCKCC coach Lana Ross to use her entire pitching staff. Breanna Droge allowed just one hit and struck out four in 3.1 innings of the opener before Samantha Reynolds finished up, retiring all five hitters she faced.
